Dear LITTLE MERMAID callback auditionees -

As you can imagine (since you were all there) last night’s decision-making process was incredibly challenging. Everyone called back could easily have played the roles they were called back for and would have been awesome… but we (unfortunately) needed to pick the one performer that gave the best audition in ALL categories (Voice, Acting and Dance). That said… after much discussion, consideration and deliberation - below is our final cast list which includes most understudies. The list does not include the Ariel or Ursula understudies as those will be chosen in rehearsal after the final casting of the Eels and Mer’ Sisters.

Congratulations to everyone cast - which is actually everyone called back - as we hope all of you will join the show in some role/capacity.

The schedule is:

First Rehearsal: Saturday, January 25th, 12PM - 4PM @ TBD

More information will be released about this first rehearsal at a later time!

Second Rehearsal: Sunday, January 26th, 12PM - 4PM @ PPAC (Paradise Performing Arts Center)

Table Read: Monday, January 27th, 5PM start time @ The Palace

TICKETS ON SALE for H.E.A.R.T.'S New Play

I HEART YOUTH THEATRE is a ten week, tuition-free musical theater arts program that will offer our theatre-loving youth (aged 8-18) of the Big Island classes, workshops and rehearsals leading up to a full-scale production of Disney’s classic musical THE LITTLE MERMAID which will open in March at the historic Palace Theatre.

I HEART YOUTH THEATRE/THE LITTLE MERMAID is presented through the generous support of The Hawaii County Waiwai Grant Program, First Hawaiian Bank, State Foundation on Culture and the Arts Biennium Program and The Hawaii Community Foundation Pahiki Nui Fund.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid is a musical based on Disney’s classic animated film and the classic Hans Christian Andersen’s story. It features music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a Book by Doug Wright. The tale revolves around Ariel, a young mermaid who dreams of exploring the human world and falling in love. With the help of her friends, including the hilarious Flounder and the wise-cracking seagull, Scuttle, Ariel embarks on a journey to make her dreams come true. Can she win the prince, regain her voice, and defeat the villainous sea witch Ursula?
